Mexico is home to many festivals and holidays throughout the year. There are over 5,000 on the Mexican calendar. You will find many holidays and festivals celebrated on site at your Grupo Mayan resort. One of the most popular festivals is the festival of Saint San Sebastian, celebrated on January 21st. This holiday is celebrated throughout the country and sometimes extends into a weeklong celebration. Dancers will costume themselves with wooden rattles and wear masks resembling European faces. You are welcome dance and celebrate in this welcoming Mexican festival.
Another well known festival celebrated in Mexico is the Day of the Dead. You may have heard of this festival as it is well known throughout the world and celebrated in Mexican communities worldwide. For the first two days of November, visitors to Mexico will have the honor of participating in Day of the Dead festivities. You will be able to sample the many treats customarily served at this time of year. Your Grupo Mayan Staff can arrange for you to experience a traditional Day of the Dead meal.
